Funniest part was the robbers getting away while all the police rushed by them sitting in their car.

I've read that the cops & robbers bit came from a movie. But I haven't seen the movie and don't recall its name, so I can't confirm that.

I bet that's true. I was telling someone else about it and mentioned that the scene looked familiar to me. It reminded me of a street in the Richmond/Sunset district of San Francisco in the late '70's. It had a couple of great Chinese restaurants I used to frequent. Imagine what I'm really remembering is some movie from that time.
