Another funny parody
'We' refers to the Sydney Symphony. This is still playing at the Sydney Opera House, apparently.
In the tradition of Carlton's Big Beer Ad, we invited our Facebook fans to change the lyrics of the iconic opening chorus of Carmina Burana to whatever they liked, and we would get the fabulous Sydney Philharmonia Choirs to sing the winning entry. We received a huge number of entries about a range of topics. Matthew Hodge's entry, an Ode to Sleep Deprived Parents and was declared the winner!

Any landing you can walk away from... (3)
And Happy Birthday, btw.
2/2/13- I was up for a birthday flight with my wife (her first flight ever), her mother and my seven month old boy when we received the shocking news that our carburator had iced over. After gliding over some field we found an ideal place to land the plane. The pilot was experienced in field landings but unfortunately the snow caused the landing gear to sever from the plane, flipping the plane front to back and smashing the tail before it came to a rest upside down. No one was hurt in the accident save for bruises, whiplash and minor cuts.

Pancake-omatic
Happy Eggs' Pancake-omaticHappy eggs has linked up with a team of designers to create a Wallace & Gromit-style device that makes pancakes from eggs laid just minutes before. The cracking contraption takes its cue from a free range hen laying an egg to set in motion a chain reaction that makes the world's freshest pancake.
The Pancake-omatic took a team of four design engineers more than 200 hours to construct and a further 100 to test.

Oops (21)
A brand new American Built EMD GT46C-ACe was dropped while being unloaded from the cargo-ship at dock. Not sure of the root cause yet but this one is going to be expensive to fix. The frame is certainly broken and every rotating apparatus can be deemed scrap. Who pays this bill?

More of a rush than he expected, I'll guess
BASE jump stunt in Norway goes horribly wrong
BASE jumper Richard Henriksen was performing the stunt for a TV show on the NRK TV network in Norway.
Video footage of the accident shows Henriksen making his first rotation around the metal bar when it suddenly collapses.
The father-of-five then flies off the cliff head-first, and those watching can be heard letting out a huge gasp.
In an extremely lucky chain of events, Henriksen survived the 1200m fall. He narrowly missed falling against the rock face of the cliff and managed to open his parachute on the way down, NRK TV reports.

A little macabre for my taste.
It's a tribute to the cat Orville, that was named after the famous aviator Orville Wright. After the cat was killed by a car, and followed by a period of mourning, visual artist Bart Jansen transformed him into the Orvillecopter: Now he is finally flying with the birds. The greatest goal a cat could ever reach!

Phoenix
This building is scheduled to be 'topped out' next month.
Time-Lapse Video Shows One World Trade Construction; Tower Could Surpass Empire State Building in HeightIn a matter of days, One World Trade Center could be the tallest building in Manhattan and one of the tallest in the world.
The building is expected to be taller than New York’s iconic Empire State Building, which currently rises 1,250 feet to the 102nd floor observation deck. [...]
The progression of construction on One World Trade can be seen in a two-minute, time-lapse video from EarthCam, the international webcam technology company.
Construction is estimated to be finished in 2013 or 2014. One World Trade Center will stand 1,776 feet tall.

Large Naked Woman Stomps On Car In Noe Valley [NSFW]A woman described as "heavyset" and naked except for her shoes was pulled off the J-Church line on Tuesday morning, and while cops and medical personnel were evaluating her near the intersection of 24th and Church in Noe Valley, she threw off a blanket that had been wrapped around her, walked up on the hood of one man's car, and stomped on his windshield. The man, John Knight, described the crazed woman as about 250 pounds, and he had a lot of explaining to do to his insurance company.

Jack in the Box Creates a Bacon MilkshakeJack in the Box is now serving a Bacon Milkshake. Yes, it's real, and yes, they are hoping it will cause some sort of bacon-fueled mass hysteria, so it's "as limited as limited can be." Denny's produced a Maple Bacon Sundae for their Baconalia promotion, so it's not unheard of for a chain to add bacon to dessert, although word on the street is the Jack in the Box shake uses bacon-flavored syrup and not actual porky goodness.

I really wish I knew the circumstances behind this video because my imagination is running wild. - Their landlord raised the rent so they thought, "Well, screw him... Let's clean that bathroom!"- Their neighbor - the one always calling the cops about the noise - happened to be out of town that day- They actually had a contract to re-roof this house. But the first one onto the roof found a hole and yelled down, "Hey! Pass up the firehose!". Inspiration, dude.

To Infinity and Beyond
Canadian teens put a (Lego) man into space for just $400It was probably a rather small step for Lego but it was certainly one giant leap for a Lego man when he was launched into space by a couple of Canadian teens recently.
The mission was the result of the hard work and ingenuity of friends Mathew Ho and Asad Muhammad, who worked on their project during free time on weekends. It took them four months to complete and cost just $400.
The space-bound contraption the two 17-year-olds came up with comprised an $85 weather balloon, a homemade parachute, a Styrofoam box, three point-and-shoot cameras, a wide-angle video camera, and a cell phone loaded with a GPS app so they’d be able to find the thing when it (hopefully) returned to Earth.
The finishing touch came in the form of a Lego man holding the Canadian flag strapped to a gangplank attached to their creation.

This is a wedding. The bride is in the black merc GL. There is a local custom for groom's friends to challenge each other for a place after the bride's car. They typically use the old "Lada", which is not a pity to throw in a landfill after the inevitable collision with the autos of other applicants. Bride's car absolutely cannot be touched. The white "Lada" violated this rule and people on a silver "Lexus", taking on the role of a judge chastised the careless driver.

The Day The LOLcats Died
Regrettably, I had to agree with Coyote when he wrote: " My prediction: They will kill this particular bill, and we will all pat ourselves on the back for it going away, but they it will get slipped into the back of some defense authorization bill while no one is looking and become law anyway. This kind of pandering to Hollywood and increased government control over speech and the Internet is just too appealing for Congress to pass up forever."
So eternal vigilance and all like that.
